Be the Neighbor begins its second summer with Tucson!
Be The Neighbor visualizes a world where through love of neighbor justice is realized, people flourish, and communities are made whole.
Then Jesus asked,“Which one of these three people was a real neighbor to the man who was beaten up by robbers?”The expert in the Law of Moses answered, “The one who showed compassion.”Jesus said, “Go and do likewise!”
We are SO excited to experience our community together.

You're invited to learn more about giving care as a Saguaro Elder
All ages can serve as an elder!
From Elder Chair, Susan Keenan:
What is an elder? As an elder you are called to be teacher, shepherd, and church leader. I love the use of “Give Care” so I’ll use it to really explain what an elder does.
An Elder gives care when they welcome newcomers on Sunday, listen to the concerns of a member, or visit someone who is sick. An Elder gives care when they actively pray with a member of the church, or keep that person in their prayers. An Elder gives care when they serve communion or lead the prayers of the people during service. An Elder gives care when they reach out to our ministers and make sure they are being served.
We need a group of people who give care.
We will meet on April 23 at 4:30 in the sanctuary. Whether you're a returning Elder, a non-serving Elder, or someone who is interested in finding out more about this amazing group, please come to the meeting.
If you're unable to attend, but are interested, please email Susan Keenan. Thank you.

Why Prepare For Lent?
God keeps God's promises.
God can be trusted.
Even So…God shows up.
The stories of the Old Testament are stories that Jesus would have learned, and knew, and followed. Our theme this year is inviting us to be mindful and pay attention to God when God shows up…Even So.
Preparation for Lent is actually a long-standing tradition in the history of the church.
But whether you eat pancakes or make doughnuts or not...doing some specific things to prepare can be incredibly useful in changing how you make your way through the Lenten season.
Especially if you want to have a different experience than you’ve had in the past.
See this guide on how to prepare your mind, body, and spirit into a Lent mindset.

Lent Sunday School class!
Sunday School Class taught by Bill Imes
Lent is a good time for considering the basic question of what it means to be a Christian. Pastor Max Vincent, in his book, Because of This I Rejoice, looks at this question through St. Paul’s Letter to the Philippians.
Bill Imes will lead a study of this book on Sundays during Lent beginning February 18 and ending March 24. The class will begin at 11:15 in the conference room.

Hank is in training!
You may have seen this sweet face around in a meeting or wandering the halls of the administration building, but who is it? This guy with the tie-dye vest is Hank and he is training to be a therapy dog. What that means is that he is working to be a presence that brings some joy, comfort, or relieves some anxiety in spaces of grief, sickness, or just life.

Scenes from our Saguaro Build Day
On Thursday, January 4 at Habitat for Humanity, we came together as a group of folks from all different strokes to put up stucco base on a house for volunteers with Americorp. It was not only a service we could do to help those serving in our community as they serve others; but also an opportunity for us to get to know one another better as we worked side by side. Grateful for the way Saguaro showed up today and can’t wait to see the way our partnership with Habitat continues to blossom.
