Who is the Christian Church (DOC)?

We are a denominational movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord's table as God welcomes us. We affirm that Jesus is the son of the Living God and offers grace to all. We affirm that all persons are God's children. We affirm liberty of belief within our journey of faith.

What does it mean to be an Open and Affirming Church?

We understand the invitation to this community of faith is as open as God's grace. We do not bar people from participation in the full life of the church due to race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, age or political ideology. We celebrate differences and diversity. We rejoice in the myriad ways God creates, sustains and blesses us and our relationships.

how is baptism understood at Saguaro?

In baptism, the old self-centered life is set aside and a new life of trust in God begins. This sacred act initiates the follower into the life of faith and also the life of Saguaro. Although we practice baptism by immersion, other baptism traditions are honored.

What does Saguaro mean by freedom of belief?

We center our journey in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Persons are free to follow their consciences guided by the Bible, the Holy Spirit, study and prayer. We expect that individuals within this community will extend that same freedom to others.

How does saguaro view the bible?

The Bible is the written foundation of the Christian faith to be witnessed to and interpreted by the faithful. We believe the Bible is inspired but not inerrant.

What is the role of communion?

The Lord's supper, or Communion, is celebrated weekly in worship. It acts as the climax of our service each week. It is open to all who believe in Jesus the Christ. Children are permitted to take part as well.
