It’s Saguaro’s time to shine with TIHAN’s Poz Café!

Saguaro is a long-time faith community partner of the Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network (TIHAN), a local non-profit that brings together religious, secular, corporate, and non-profit organizations to create an inclusive support network for people living with HIV.

One of TIHAN’s programs is a monthly lunch for people in the wider community who live with HIV/AIDS. This event is known as Poz Café. Poz Café is an opportunity for persons living with HIV/AIDS to get out of the house, take a break, meet other positive people, and enjoy great food!

Volunteers from local faith communities (that’s us!) provide a fantastic, delicious, and nutritious lunch. This is followed by time to “hang out,” chat, participate in a game or two of bingo, enjoy the raffle of fun and useful gifts, and receive a CarePackage. 

On Thursday, November 20, Saguaro will co-sponsor the monthly lunch at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church along with Grace St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.  Each faith community has a part to in helping making Poz Café happen. 

There are opportunities to volunteer in person at Our Savior's Lutheran on the day of our Poz Café Nov 20.

8:00 – 9:30 am – Packing Care Package construction at
( 2 people from SCC needed )

9:15 am –1:30 pm – Meal Set Up and Clean Up
( 4-6 people from SCC needed are needed to stay the whole time)

  • Volunteers are to stay the entire time, carpooling preferred for parking

  • Active roles, mostly  on your feet serving/arranging things/decorating/cleaning up and all that stuff

  • Includes set up, serving, and clean up

  • Comfy clothes, nothing partisan attire wise on clothes, close-toed shoes, and only bring essentials (no splace for personal items) 

  • Volunteers will be able to eat lunch

All donations must be received no later than November 16! There will be a bin in the gathering space outside of the sanctuary. 

  • 180 bottles of laundry detergent

  • 180 lip balms

  • 180 bottles of lotion, 8–16 oz

  • 5 gift cards of $15 each: Wal-Mart, Fry's, Safeway, Albertson's (bring to church office
