Welcome, Jocelyn Hartley!

Jocelyn is our Creation and Justice Fellow from Disciples Home Mission and Green Chalice!! She began on May 19 with orientation and we began to see her around Saguaro beginning May 20.

Read a little about her:

"My name is Jocelyn, and I'm very excited to be a 2025 Justice & Creation Fellow in partnership with Saguaro Christian Church! My interest in environmental justice was sparked by learning about climate change, loss of biodiversity, and environmental degradation in high school biology class.

“Being an animal lover and having grown up visiting national parks every summer, I was deeply saddened to learn that the structure of my modern life contributed to environmental issues. Since then, the questions dominating my mind have been: is it possible to live in modern society in a state of equilibrium, or equal give and take, with the natural world? And how? As I learned of the unequal impacts of environmental issues on different communities, I started to realize that environmental justice is deeply intertwined with human justice. That's where church comes in. Church is a social structure where we ask those big questions about what we want society to look like and how we get there. I hope y'all at Sagaro are ready to dig into those questions with me this summer.”
