On July 7, we'll pack blessing bags as part of the worship experience during our communion time. We'll each take some bags with us as we go forth as a mission of Saguaro out in the world to be a positive influence. 

The bags will bless the neighbors in need that we encounter at traffic lights.

Jesus was one who wandered, one who traveled from place to place to teach and meet people where they are. By providing something tangible to our neighbors, the nomads, the people experiencing homelessness, the friends we see on street corners, we have an opportunity to serve, to give of ourselves, to make the summer just a little bit easier for those we call our neighbors. This particular outreach moment will be a way for us to take the light which has been in the one place of our worship service into the world that the light may be in all places that we are, in all places where God is encountered.

As June starts for Saguaro, so does Be the Neighbor, Saguaro's intentional efforts to build community, and an awareness of who we are as the hands and feet of Christ. June is HOT in Tucson, when temperatures and needs of people in our community reach their peaks. Let the heat be our reminder that we need to collect items this month to donate for the blessing bags.

• bottled water (please bring as much of this as possible as they will also be used for our water ministry at the office entrance)

• gallon ziplock bags

• nail clippers

• chapstick

• granola bars/packs of crackers

• socks

• ponchos

• electrolyte packs

• instant cold packs

• travel sizes of:

•    hand lotion

•    toothbrush/toothpaste

•    Wet Ones wipes

•    hand sanitizer

•    deodorant

•    sunscreen
