New hybrid-style Wednesday meal

Sol Food Initiatives will move to a hybrid-style meal on Wednesday nights and will need more volunteers! Go here to sign up.

We'll still be distributing bag meals, but beginning WEDNESDAY JULY 7, we'll be inviting folks to eat their meal in the Saguaro Center. We hope this not only keeps folks cooler during the hot summer, but begins to slowly build back some of the community from the pre-pandemic sit-down meals. Folks will be invited to stay until 6:30pm.

This shift will mean we need at least 2 more volunteers on site each Wednesday. This will help us distribute bags to those arriving in cars, as well as those arriving on foot or bike who might choose to stay. Because we've spent over a year directing people a certain way for their meals, we anticipate a little confusion at first, but nothing major! The extra volunteers will be helpful to getting folks redirected. We will follow Saguaro's current protocols when it comes to mask wearing and gathering.

We’ll continue offering Caridad meal bags every other week and the freshly prepared Heart & Sol meals the other weeks. This means we'll still be packing bags on Heart & Sol nights and picking them up from Caridad the other nights.

It'll be important that we know in advance that we'll have a full crew each Wednesday night, so if you know of others who love in-person meals, please encourage them to join us for this hybrid plan! We’ll continue this way until we receive word from Caridad that they're moving back to the hot meal option for all sites.
